COM 604 & 607

I am creating a joint project with Ellen from Computer game design and development on the module COM 604 & 607

Started thinking about the ideas i wanted to do for my 3D modelling animation. Thought about doing a guy walking into a church/chapel and picking out a sword. Rain and thunder effects will occur during the animation too.

Idea came from Zelda : Ocarina of Time. Here is an example i wanted to do


Here is the temple of time, i was thinking of making something like that for my temple or church.

IDEA!!!!!

A character will walk towards a temple/chapel to go inside and pray. Rain and thunder will occur during the process of him walking into the building. Once in the building the character will walk upto the cross and pray. Then a door will open up and the character will walk through the door and will reveal a sword. Then the character will go up to the sword and pull it out.

Started storyboarding my design. Rigged for the first time using Maya but didn't get too far with it so i joined a friend and watched him.

Learned about shape shifting in Maya today. I have books on modeling which i have had a brief look through to help me through this project. Some parts of the books give me ideas on how to rig characters and how to come up with enviroments in Maya.

The start of my design for this project. The beginning of my temple/chapel.









 I have put in the cross to show that it's a religious place and for my animation for the character to walk in and pray to the lord for his journey ahead.






 Some seats for the chapel/temple to make in more authentic for the scene.









Here is the extra building i have built for the sword and door that opens as soon as he prays at the alter.








Here is the lightning effect i have in the scene. I used 3 spheres and created a lightning effect.

Textures

These are the following textures that I am putting in to make the scene

This texture is being used for the inside wall of the temple













This texture is being used for the flooring inside the temple.
















This texture is being used for the Temple cross and the seating.











This texture is being used for the sword.

















Fire Scene




Here is me using a fire effect to make an object look on fire.

 Scene (Rendering)


The sword has been put into the scene and ready for the animation.

Unfortunatly due to a program failure, Maya deleted the whole scene due to a malfunction in the program. I am unable to present this in a final render and film.

My tutor was able to bring back my scene and now will be creating a different character for the animation

Creating the Character



Here is quick design for a character i created in Maya. Yet to rig and texture it, I will be doing the texturing next.








I have added a nose and eyes to the character just so it looked more like a person rather than a bunch of shapes.






I was unable to get the character to rig and lost a few days doing another assignment, I have now decided I am going to make 2 bouncing balls and bring them to life in the animation.

Here i created my two animated balls, I coloured them black and white to represent the Yin and the Yang.







The New Scene

I have decided to scrap my first idea and go with two simple balls that will jump around the chapel and go into the secret room to where the sword is and that is the animation.
